Preserving autumn leaves in glycerine.
Recipe By:
Serves: 3 dozen leaves
Ingredients
  • 1 quart glycerine
  • Autumn leaves, not dried out
  • Newspaper, a few sheets
Instructions
  1. Fill a shallow pan with glycerine.
  2. Layer the leaves in the glycerine, pressing down ever so gently.
  3. Allow to sit for 48 hours.
  4. Carefully remove the leaves from the glycerine by lifting up with their stems. Allow the glycerine to drip off for a few seconds. Lay the leaves out on the newspaper and let the glycerine to continue to drip off.
  5. Rinse the leaves under warm water, still holding them by their stems. Place on a rack to dry.
Notes
Autumn leaves may also be preserved by ironing between wax paper. Use a towel between the iron and the wax paper, or you'll regret it!
